Like most others here; I don’t see adds on my phone. Now when I use someone else’s, or a ‘smart’ TV or a library computer…

If you don’t review the app permissions in your phone, uses apps from Google Play, don’t uses DNS filtering, you even will see personalized ads of products near your home with an “Hello” with your name and your photo.

Privacy is difficult to obtain in Desktop, but mobiles, at least those with a stock OS, are spyware by definition, never good to store important data in these.

You forgot to add - the ad that is perfect for you and that you just want to click on, and when you realize this, it becomes really creepy, because you intuitively understand that the algorithm knows what you like, what else it knows about you…

A brand written on a product is an ad. Let alone the ads everywhere in public. Acknowledgimg that you’re seeing an ad makes you less likely to be sub consciously influenced (‘brand awareness’). Pretending you’re immune might make you more susceptible.

Well, im sorry then if i come across as smug. OP just post a meme something about seeing ads without any context, i asked about it because i havent seen one, you know, targeted ads, pop up ads and the like.

If i offend you in anyway, well, im sorry.

Same here. It’s crazy looking at other peoples browsers and realising they don’t have an adblocker the amount of ads they put up with is insane.

when you have ads on your phone, it’s on some websites you browse, or some apps, right? well, what of your system had the ads? android doesn’t do it YET, but it might come.

yeaj, if you use something AOSP based you should be fine, until they find a way to prevent people from using AOSP. I’m on calyxos with only open source apps but I’ll soon switch to Chimera Linux.
