  • I have no problem just sitting down with nothing to do. I bring a book or go on my phone so that I dont waste my time starring into space dreaming.

I have a 30min bus ride to and from work its perfect for reading or listening to music or steamdeck. Most of the time i just do nothing but gaze out the window.

With these tiktok trends and ‘stop scrolling’ videos Im happy they are feeling the effects of social media and actually taking action.

  • Users: We are putting our PFP as clippy because it symbolises a time where software worked locally and just wanted to help without spying on you.

Microsoft: wow they love that lil clippy fella let’s make co pilot into a piss blob that floats around the screen spouting random facts its learnt from surveiling the users every move. It will be like their own personal FBI agent they will love it.

  • The benefit to me is that snaps update as soon as the patch is pushed and they sandbox better than flatpak. Its also easier to maintain a snap from a dev perspective (idk if thats true I just read it on some fourm)

I prefer flatpak because i like the name and flathub better but the development has kind of stagnated and a lot of their benefits are non existent. Flatpak sandbox is kind of a meme at the moment because most apps ask for way to many perms just to work.

  • Fizz@lemmy.nztomemes@lemmy.worldGenAI is great, trust me bro

Its funny, shocking and sad but people like AI. The average person uses all this AI being added to their apps and they think its a good feature.

We are a minority and not the target audience for these platforms they will keep shoving these features in because thats the platform they want to build and their userbase will keep using it and we’ll sit here complaining.

The average person loves how easy AI makes things and I think its going to be a hard sell to move anyone back. Its like uber eats, once you start getting it then it becomes hard to see why you should drive there yourself.
