No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there any way the average American can insulate themselves from the AI bubble bursting?
1·1 day agoI think its too late. The dollar lost 15% of its value from beginning of year… It doesnt look like it will go much lower. Its been kind of stuck for the last month.

142·1 day agoBuy other stocks, not American ones. They will also be affected but not as much.
If you are living paycheck to paycheck, you cant do anything.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Europe's plan to ditch US tech giants is built on open source - and it's gaining steam
21·2 days agoYeah 100%. I just dont know if Europe can compete. There is no real European cloud with hundreds of services, and Linux in the enterprise world is much harder to administer than windows. Microsoft is good at selling their enterprise stuff.
I think all of that is going to put Europe behind. But maybe its good to get started. Perhaps that will actually lead to an entire market for making Linux as good as windows in the enterprise.

231·3 days agoI mean yeah. Trump could tomorrow make some idiotic statement about tariffs on American cloud services like aws. Seriously, who would be surprised?
Before Trump, nobody would even suggest to distance themselves from the USA. Now, everyone is thinking it.
Great job I guess, if you want a planet where countries are fighting eachother instead of working together. But Trump mentality is that he must be the winner, always. He cant understand that sometimes another country being winner also helps his own. He must be the winner.
He is the typical guy in the sandbox that takes the entire sandbox because its all about him.
Yeah. :) 100% tariffs on data transfers out of American Web Services…
Leta give it to Trump and Elon Musk, they will take good care of it… Lol.
Trump will isolate aws to America only, claiming other countries are ripping him off.
Aws becomes American Web Services.

2·4 days agoYeah but Trump and Musk are showing the worst behavior of humanity in front of the entire planet. That scene in idiocracy with the president could easily be Trump or Musk. So I dont know if its a joke anymore.
There is no attempt to be a good person, have any morals, any shame… In fact, its the opposite of those things that make money and creates infamous individuals that get all the attention.
So its logical to assume that this path will continue, where any attention is great because it makes money through ads connected to what people are watching.
Of course we could say that humanity should not pay attention to this. That worked while the people doing the bad things were just celebrities. Now we have presidents and billionaires doing those things. Its affecting everyone what they say or do.
I think its easy to get a general sense of dread from observing all this. Many feel like the world has gone crazy. But its more that these specific people are getting the attention, or rather, taking it.

Technology@lemmy.world•Are we living in a golden age of stupidity?English
8·4 days agoYes but this has accelerated it. I dont actually read anything anymore. I just ask chat gpt. In the end, it will make me dependent on it. And so many people will go that route, for different reasons.
Doing a web search now feels like wasting a lot of time when chat gpt has the answer already.
I think this is already changing everything. School system, education, learning, jobs, careers, etc.
