When I was but a little kid, I once told my mother what could charitably be called a joke:
“Okay, picture a cowboy riding a horse down the road. Suddenly he hears a bang behind him. Looking back, he sees his horse’s feet. ‘Shoot!’ he says. ‘Flat hoof.’”I had forgotten about that until I saw this post.
When I was a kid I used to think Horseshoes were actual boots that you put on horses feet, and I didn’t see them on any horses in movies because the horses would fling them off at a gallop speed
That’s an entertaining theory.
I knew what they were because my dad had a horseshoe game set and I had seen something about hanging horseshoes so the luck didn’t fall out, but I didn’t know they were actually used with horses for an embarrassingly long time.
