It was Friday, March 14th, 2003. Pi Day.

I played guitar in a shitty band in highschool and the administration let us play an impromptu show in the commons during the last period of the day, as long as we played an original song for Pi Day. Our vocalist recited somewhere around 100 digits of pi while the rest of us just made noise over a PA before they came out and told us to quit. Then we all went on possibly the best Spring Break ever.

idk man, i acknowledge 2π comes up a lot, but sometimes you just have π and I’d much rather write 2π than τ/2

They’re both useful, a cricle’s circumference as τr is lovely but πr2 is certainly more elegant for area. The real pity is that they didn’t use the symbols the other way round - if τ = 3.1… and π =6.2… you have a natural π =τ+τ which makes sense (visually, conventionally mathematically it’s nonsense!)
